Rootrainers encourage optimum root formation; including long straight roots; a fundemental requirement of helathy and successful growth. The rectangular shape of each plant cell provides a greater surface area, and the grooves allow more roots to develop on the outside of the plug.
It also helps to prevent root circling as the roots tend to grow straight down.
Rootrainers are the perfect start for nearly all plants and especially those that are sensitive to disturbance and benefit from deepr roots. Ideal for growing on seeds, plugs and cuttings.
Rootrainer books
The Rootrainers come in different depths depending on whether it is the Compact Rootrainer or the Original Rootrainer.
Although there are different depths they are all known as books as each book consists of 4 cells they open up like a book. This allows the plants to be removed from the plug cells without causing any damage to the roots or the stem of the plant.
The Rootrainer books are re-usable but will wear over time. These can be replaced without the need to replace the whole tray sytems that are shown below.
Replacement Parts
