Commonly known as dogwoods. Mainly deciduous. The most common type to be found in the garden are the flowering dogwoods. These are grown for their foliage and some have a vibrant stem colour which gives colour in the winter.
Soil Type: Grow on most soils except shallow chalk soils. Position: Frost hardy. They like the sun but they will tolerate shade Maintenance: Species grown for their attractive coloured stems should be pruned every two years in late winter.
